Debbie Broadway is an award winning South Carolina Artist who paints original artwork using acrylic paints as the medium. She has shown in New York, held solo shows in SC, been published and won awards for her work. One of these is the double award from the Pee Dee Regional Art Competition ,the oldest SC one in 2016 where she placed 2nd as well as receiving the People's Choice award for the painting entitled; "And So It Was". Her greatest inspiration stems from her love of the beach. It is what drives and stirs her work though there is a variety of subject matter. These areas of focus include Carolina Living/Southern, Charleston,SC and some European pieces.
The artwork offered includes signed and numbered editions as part of various series for collectors. Among these selections is a well loved flower in the South called "Southern Flower-Magnolia 1 and 2"; a series from Charleston,SC : "Charleston:WinterBasket Weaver,"Charleston-A Walk In Charleston" and "Charleston-A Reflective View." In the Carolina Living themes that depict growing up and living in the South,there is a Peanut series: "Fresh Boiled Peanuts" and "Buying Peanuts" -a first place competition winner in another show and one titled, "Biscuits Are Done." "And So It Was" focuses on rural life and their related connections.
Completed historical work includes "Charleston Citadel-The Ring" which is also part of an ongoing series on The Citadel and "Harriet Tubman:'Moses',Scout,Soldier,Woman of God"
Beach themes include the familiar 'on the beach' scenes and Beach Clubs well known in the Carolinas along with the much loved Carolina beach music /shag dance theme paintings. These include the "O.D.Pavilion-Where It All Began" the historical and much loved remaining Pavilion in Ocean Drive /North Myrtle Beach, SC. and home of the S.C. State dance:the 'Shag' and Carolina beach music. There is also another former club no longer there but a rich history that was on the beach called;"The Old 'Galleon-Gone But Not Forgotten". There are a number or other general beach day themed paintings including a surf focus woody on the beach. The European focus includes a series on Italy of three completed works most recently of "Italy: A night In Venice"
She has originals and single prints available for sale. The most popular sizes are 12 x 16 and 16 x 20 though there is a size for any budget. Prints may also be done on canvas by special request.
